Preparing For Our Dumpling Parties

Are you interested in attending a dumpling party but need a bit more information before the event? You’ve come to the right place! Below are a few tidbits of key information that will make your visit to the Dumpling School more enjoyable.

Book Your Spot

To reserve your spot at one of our famous dumpling-making parties, you should always check out our event calendar. Here, you’ll find out which of our events have available spots throughout the month. Often, we book private parties, which can also be requested through the same site. When booking the event of your choosing, you will be taken to a page that details the time of the event, the location of the event, and the registration price per attendee. You will also be able to view our contact information, along with instructions for on-site parking and some additional information about what our dumpling-making events entail. If you are attending with a group, consider purchasing all tickets together to ensure there are enough spots for everyone, as event tickets can go quickly.

Consider Your Parking Arrangement

At our Dumpling School location at 85 Windsor St, Cambridge, MA 02139, we have limited parking in our driveway. The driveway can fit about 4 vehicles and is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Though we do have metered parking in front of our location, these spots are limited to 2 hours in total. However, these spots are free if you are attending a dumpling party on Sunday, or if you’re looking to move your car to one of these spots after 8 pm. You can also park at the Green Street garage, which is only a short walk from our Windsor St. location.

Arrive Early

We always recommend arriving a bit early to our dumpling-making events, around 10-15 minutes. This gives you enough time to figure out parking and to get comfortable before becoming a dumpling-making connoisseur. When you arrive, you can feel free to place your coats or belongings in one of our designated rooms, use the bathroom, and find the perfect seat for the event!

BYOB (If You’d Like!)

At the Dumpling School, we do not offer alcoholic beverages. However, you are free to bring your own if you’d like! We do offer a selection of teas, water, and other non-alcoholic beverages. Please remember to drink responsibly and to find alternative transportation if you plan on doing so.

Prepare to Share

The Dumpling School environment is a space where you can share food, drinks, stories, and talents with other attendees. Our dumpling-making process is a communal effort. Chef Marco will give you a background of the Dumpling School, along with some key insights into how dumplings are made. Your job will be to construct the dumplings, mold them into the perfect shapes, and add the prepared filling to them so Marco can cook and serve them to you on a silver platter (not literally, but you get the idea!).

We also like to open the conversation up to our guests. Often, we’ll ask guests to share a fond cooking memory or experience, along with detailing their level of familiarity with dumpling making. This is no pressure, though – sharing is entirely optional, but it is deeply encouraged!

Come With An Open Mind!

Our dumpling-making parties are interactive, fun, and an opportunity to step slightly out of your comfort zone if you aren’t familiar with food-making. Ultimately, we are not looking to make our guests into chefs – this experience is intended to bring together new friends and old, where the conversation flows and the dumplings are seemingly endless. You’ll have a chance to try a variety of Taiwanese dishes, both fusion and traditional. You will also get the chance to work with real dumpling dough and fillings, figuring out how to mold the dough and make the ideal dumpling shape. The experience can include moments of trial and error, but that is one of the best parts! Together, with your fellow dumpling makers, you’ll mold an experience you’ll treasure for the rest of your life.
